University of Białystok – A Modern University with Tradition
The University of Białystok (UwB) was established in 1997 as a continuation of the 29-year academic tradition of the Białystok Branch of the University of Warsaw. Today, it is one of the leading academic institutions in northeastern Poland, offering modern education across 28 fields of study.
The university consists of ten faculties, including two branch campuses in Siedlce and Vilnius. With around 900 faculty members and over 18,000 students, UwB offers undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, along with 90 postgraduate courses. It is also actively involved in numerous international research projects.
UwB’s strong academic position is confirmed by multiple accreditations and certifications, including the prestigious 'Eurobachelor Label' and 'Euromaster Label' in chemistry. Students can explore their interests in more than 70 academic clubs and take part in the Erasmus+ program, which facilitates international exchange with over 100 universities across Europe.
The university continues to grow, investing in modern infrastructure such as the University Library, Sports Hall, and a new campus on Ciołkowskiego Street in Białystok. It also prioritizes collaboration with international institutions and adapts its educational offerings to meet regional needs, including those of Polish communities abroad.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to science and public life, UwB has awarded honorary doctorates to distinguished individuals such as Ryszard Kaczorowski, Jerzy Giedroyc, Metropolitan Sawa, and Professor Keiichi Yamanaka.
The University of Białystok is a dynamic institution that blends tradition with a modern approach to education, offering students excellent opportunities for learning, research, and career development.
