The Kaziukas Fair in Vilnius is one of the most recognisable and colourful events in the city. Every year, the old town fills with stalls offering handicrafts, traditional goods, Vilnius palm branches, ring-shaped breads, and the famous heart-shaped Kaziukas gingerbread. Crowds of residents and tourists stroll between the stalls, searching for unique souvenirs and soaking up the atmosphere of this centuries-old fair.
Among the many stalls, visitors may also come across something slightly less expected — the stand of the Branch of the University of Białystok in Vilnius. The distinctive purple tent bearing the inscription "Filia UwB w Wilnie" catches the eye of passers-by and stands out among the traditional market stalls.
At the stand, visitors can find informational materials about the university, books, and small gadgets related to student life. There are also touches that nod to the fair's traditions — heart-shaped gingerbread and other small items associated with the Vilnius Kaziukas celebrations. It is a symbolic meeting point between the world of academia and the local traditions and culture of the city.
Such a stand could become a gathering place for students, alumni, and anyone interested in studying within a Polish academic environment in Vilnius. After all, the fair is not only a celebration of craftsmanship and culture, but also a space for conversation, the exchange of ideas, and discovering new initiatives.
Kaziukai in Vilnius runs from Friday to Sunday (6–8 March) and, as every year, transforms the old town into a grand, colourful celebration of tradition.
A small note!
The image shown was generated using artificial intelligence and is humorous and illustrative in nature. It does not depict an actual stand of the Branch of the University of Białystok in Vilnius — though who knows, perhaps one day such a stand will truly appear at Kaziukai.
