Study Visit of European Studies Students to the European Parliament II

23.01.2026

22 January was another day of the stay of European Studies students – members of the European Studies Scientific Circle – at the European Parliament. On that day, the students had the opportunity to participate in a meeting of the Intergroup on Traditional Minorities and Regional Languages.

At the request of MEP Waldemar Tomaszewski, the main item on the agenda of the Intergroup meeting concerned the problems of Polish education in Lithuania. In his speech, MEP Waldemar Tomaszewski, as well as representatives of parents of children attending Polish schools, pointed out, among other issues, the forcing of school principals to introduce so-called “Lithuanian national streams,” the use of mobbing and intimidation against teachers and principals, as well as controversies related to competitions for school principal positions. It was emphasized that education is a pillar of individual identity.

Following the discussion, the Chair of the Intergroup, L. Vincze, expressed support for the actions undertaken by MEP Waldemar Tomaszewski.

The study visit to the European Parliament was a valuable educational experience, enabling direct insight into the functioning of the institutions of the European Union and the practical dimension of their activities.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to MEP Waldemar Tomaszewski for inviting us to the European Parliament. We also extend our thanks to the advisor of the ECR Group, Dr. Bogusław Rogalski, for his substantive guidance, and to the MEP’s assistant, Mr. Rajmund Zacharewicz, for the excellent organization of the visit.
