On June 8, an Oxford-style debate took place at the University of Białystok Branch in Vilnius, organized by the Department of European Studies and the Robert Schuman Student Scientific Circle of European Studies. The topic of the debate was the question: "Should the European Parliament be granted full right of legislative initiative?"
One team defended the thesis that the European Parliament should not be granted the full right of legislative initiative, as this would mean the end of the European Commission's dominant role. The other team held the opposite view and argued that such a power should be granted to the Parliament.
Speaking for the proposition ("in favor") were: Robert Borkovski (3rd year) – team leader, Sebastian Markovski (3rd year), Karol Paškevič (2nd year), and Kamil Paškevič (2nd year).
Speaking for the opposition ("against") were: Daniel Glinskij (3rd year) – team leader, Mirosław Baranowski (1st year), Paulina Paškevič (1st year), and Mirek Szwabowicz (2nd year).
After the speeches concluded, participants answered questions from the audience. This was followed by an anonymous audience vote to select the more convincing team. After the votes were counted, the team led by Daniel Glinskij won.
