On 21 May, students of pre-school and early education pedagogy from the University of Białystok Branch in Vilnius visited the School of Fine Arts in Pagiriai, in the Vilnius district. The educational session held at the school became a unique encounter with music and art. During the event, traditional Lithuanian folk musical instruments were presented – the kanklės, skudučiai, skrabalai, and other authentic instruments. As Lithuania is currently marking the Year of the Kanklės, special attention was devoted to the history of the kanklės, its sound, and its significance in Lithuanian culture. Participants not only listened to stories but also had the opportunity to hear live performances. The gentle sound of the kanklės and the joyful tones of the skudučiai created a cozy and inspiring atmosphere.
Following the musical part, an art workshop took place – bead threading. During the creative workshop, students crafted colorful jewelry, developing precision, creativity, and artistic imagination.
This educational trip provided many positive emotions, new knowledge, and valuable experience. Second-year pedagogy students were pleased to have spent their time creatively. Such activities encourage interest in one's own national culture, the cultivation of traditions, and the discovery of the beauty of art.
