On 12 May, the Branch of the University of Białystok in Vilnius hosted the Economic Competition for Youth from the Vilnius Region, organised as part of the 22nd Podlasie Festival of Science and Art, held this year under the theme "Science is the continuous discovery of reality" – Albert Einstein.
The main aim of the competition was to develop young people's economic interests and to show that economics is not just theory, but a practical tool for understanding the contemporary world – from everyday financial decisions to global economic processes. The event was also intended to inspire young people to make informed economic decisions, to support education in the Polish language, and to give them the opportunity to engage with the academic environment and get to know the university.
The thematic scope of the competition covered the basics of micro- and macroeconomics, as well as issues related to entrepreneurship, the labour market and personal finance – in line with the curriculum for grades X–XII.
19 students took part in the competition:
Five laureates were selected, including one first place, two second places, and three third places:
Prizes for the laureates (1st–2nd places) and gifts for all participants were funded by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Vilnius.
During the competition break, students from the UwB Branch in Vilnius presented their papers and shared their experiences related to research activities and economics studies.
