On May 14, students of grades IX–XII from Polish schools in Lithuania took part in the IT Competition organized by the Branch of the University of Białystok in Vilnius as part of the Podlasie Festival of Science and Art, under this year’s motto: “Never disregard phenomena that seem extraordinary to you!” – Alexander Fleming.
The main goal of the competition was to promote computer science not only as a source of entertainment but above all as an important and rapidly developing field of knowledge. The event was addressed to students of Polish-language schools in Vilnius and the Vilnius region.
The scope of the material included, among others, topics in computer applications, computer architecture, mobile devices, and the basics of programming.
A total of 19 students took part in the competition:
6 from Adam Mickiewicz High School
4 from John Paul II Gymnasium
4 from Stanisław Moniuszko Gymnasium in Kowalczuki
3 from Władysław Syrokomla Gymnasium
1 from Ferdynand Ruszczyc Gymnasium in Rudomina
1 from Juliusz Słowacki Gymnasium in Bezdanai
Three winners were selected, including one first place and two second places:
1st place – Sebastian Drożdz (Adam Mickiewicz High School)
2nd place – Kamil Hussain (Władysław Syrokomla Gymnasium)
2nd place – Jakub Sakson (John Paul II Gymnasium)
The main prizes were sponsored by the Polish Entrepreneurship Forum “Korona”, and gifts for all participants were provided by Members of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania: Rita Tamašunienė and Jarosław Narkiewicz.
During the break, while the jury was reviewing the works, participants listened to student presentations about projects they had prepared on artificial intelligence.
