Lithuania from a Tax Perspective: VAT, CIT, PIT, Excise Duty

13.05.2026

On 12 May, a webinar entitled "Lithuania from a Tax Perspective: VAT, CIT, PIT, Excise Duty" took place, organised by the Branch of the University of Białystok in Vilnius in cooperation with the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (Polska Agencja Inwestycji i Handlu, PAIH). The event was held in hybrid format – participants could take part either in person or online.

The webinar featured presentations by second-year economics students from the UwB Branch in Vilnius, prepared under the supervision of Renata Rynkevičiūtė-Jančiauskienė. The presentations covered changes to the Lithuanian tax system entering into force from 2026, addressing issues related to VAT, CIT, PIT and excise duty.

The meeting discussed, among other things, the rules for VAT registration in Lithuania, the accounting of international transactions, the taxation of businesses and individuals, excise duty obligations, as well as the most common errors occurring in tax settlements in Polish-Lithuanian business. Participants also had the opportunity to learn how to prepare a company for a tax audit and for cooperation with Lithuanian institutions.

The training was led by Joanna Mogilnicka, an expert at the PAIH Foreign Trade Office in Vilnius, and Renata Rynkevičiūtė-Jančiauskienė, an attorney at the RR LAWYER law firm.

For the students, participation in the event was an important educational and professional experience. It was their first expert public appearance, during which they were able to demonstrate their knowledge, responsibility, engagement and practical perspective on tax changes in Lithuania from 2026.
