KNSP Educational Trip to Borejkowszczyzna

27.04.2026

On 26 April, the Janusz Korczak Student Scientific Society of Pedagogy travelled to Borejkowszczyzna — a village located approximately 14 km south-east of Vilnius, associated with the life and work of Władysław Syrokomla (Ludwik Kondratowicz).

During the trip, students had the opportunity to learn more about the poet's life and to discover the history of the region and its past. At the end of the visit, participants took part in a calligraphy workshop, where they could try their hand at the art of beautiful writing.

Władysław Syrokomla was a Romantic-era poet, translator, and author of one of the first travel guides to Lithuania. Known as the "village lyrist", he created works inspired by folk culture and the life of the Vilnius region. In 1853 he moved with his family to Borejkowszczyzna, where he spent the final years of his life, leasing a manor house belonging to the Tyszkiewicz family.
