October 4th, 2024, marked a remarkable day in the history of the branch of the University of Bialystok in Vilnius. For the first time, students, lecturers, and invited guests gathered for the ceremonial inauguration of the new academic year 2024/2025 in the new headquarters at Makowa Street 22 in Vilnius. This space not only fosters academic development but also promotes the integration of the academic community and collaboration with the Polish-Lithuanian environment.
This year's admissions process attracted significant interest from applicants. Nearly 190 students began their studies across four programs, including bachelor's degrees in Economics, IT, and European Studies, a master's degree in Economics, and a uniform master's studies in Preschool and Early School Pedagogy. During the ceremony, speakers emphasized that the modern facilities provide exceptional conditions for nurturing young talent and supporting the local community.
This year also marked the first time the ceremonies were led by the new Dean of the Branch, Dr. Hab. Urszula Wróblewska, Prof. UwB. During the event, the Rector of UwB, Prof. Dr. Hab. Mariusz Popławski, outlined plans for further development, highlighting the need to address local educational needs and considering the expansion of the academic offerings with programs that respond to contemporary challenges, such as International Relations.
