ECR Group Study Days in Vilnius

18.05.2026

On May 12, staff of the Department of European Studies and members of the Robert Schuman Student Scientific Association of European Studies took part in the first working session of the ECR Group Study Days in Vilnius. The event brought together representatives of conservative and centre-right circles from various European countries, creating a space for exchanging views on the future of the European Union and the foundations of European civilisation.

The event's leading theme was the motto: "The Value of Europe is the Europe of Values" ("Wartością Europy jest Europa Wartości"). The debates focused on the defence of conservative and Christian values, as well as the traditional family, as the foundation for preserving European identity and cultural heritage. Participants also discussed the demographic crisis in Europe, its causes and possible solutions, as well as the future shape of the European Union — as a community of sovereign states or a federal model. An important part of the discussions was also an analysis of the role of the United States in Europe's security system.

The first panel was moderated by Paweł Lisicki — journalist, columnist, essayist, and Christian apologist, author of the book "Dżihad i samozniszczenie Zachodu" ("Jihad and the Self-Destruction of the West"). The speakers included:

  • Waldemar Tomaszewski — Member of the European Parliament, chairman of the Lithuanian delegation in the ECR Group and chairman of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania – Christian Families Union;
  • Carlo Fidanza — Member of the European Parliament, chairman of the Italian delegation in the ECR Group;
  • Diego Solier — Member of the European Parliament and member of the ECR Group's board.

Participation in this event was a valuable experience and contributed to a better understanding of various aspects of the most important challenges facing contemporary Europe.

We would like to sincerely thank the ECR Group for the invitation and the opportunity to take part in this important event. Special thanks go to MEP Waldemar Tomaszewski and the ECR Group's advisor, dr. Bogusław Rogalski.
