On 30–31 January 2026, six students from the Vilnius Branch of the University of Białystok took part in the international hackathon ActInSpace 2026, held in Vilnius. The event brought together students, engineers, entrepreneurs, and creative innovators interested in applying space technologies to solving real economic and social challenges.
ActInSpace is a global innovation competition launched in 2014 by CNES (the French Space Agency) and currently held in more than 60 cities across five continents, with the support of the European Space Agency and the ESA Business Incubation Centre network. The organizers in Lithuania were VITP and ESA BIC Lithuania.
During the intensive 24-hour hackathon, teams worked on challenges based on patents and solutions provided by Airbus, Thales Alenia Space, CNES, and ESA. Under the guidance of technical and business mentors, participants developed concepts for products and services using satellite data and space technologies, with a focus on their practical application on Earth.
The students were supervised and led by Mr Olek Suchodolski (UAB SAPTERA), a researcher and expert in innovation and knowledge transfer.
