The Integration and Adaptation Support Chatbot (chat.wilno.uwb.edu.pl) is a tool created specifically for students of the Branch of the University of Białystok in Vilnius, designed to help them find their way around the university and quickly access the information they need. It provides support during the process of integration and adaptation to a new academic environment, and interaction takes place by typing questions into a text field. The chatbot also features an autocomplete function, suggesting available topics as the user types.
As its creator, Daniel Liubianec, a third-year Computer Science student, recalls:
"Work on the chatbot began as part of a project carried out during the Algorithms and Data Structures Part 2 course in the second year of studies in 2025. The course instructor, Jan Suchodolski, MA, proposed developing a chatbot for our branch that would help first-year students easily find information related to the university. By the end of the course, a working prototype had been created and presented to the instructor and Vice-Dean Dr Elżbieta Majewska. The Vice-Dean approved the project and gave her consent for its further development for the university's needs. Then, in the autumn of 2025, already in my third year, the instructor and I received approval to integrate the chatbot into the university website. Now, in 2026, the chatbot has been fully integrated into the university website so that it can effectively support students in obtaining the information they need."
First-year students can already use the chatbot, which answers basic questions about studying at the university. It is accessible from the Branch's main page (Polish version – wilno.uwb.edu.pl) — simply click the "ChatBot" button. The chatbot answers questions about the organisation of studies, class schedules, contact with the Dean's Office, scholarships, and the general functioning of the university.
⚠️ Please note that the chatbot is currently available only on the Polish language version of the website.
Students and staff are encouraged to make use of this resource, while ensuring that questions remain relevant to academic matters only.
Users are asked not to enter inappropriate, offensive, or off-topic content. All questions are recorded anonymously and analysed solely for the purpose of developing the chatbot, creating new responses, and better adapting the tool to students' needs.
Usage statistics and the question database will be used to further improve the chatbot and expand the range of information it provides, enabling the tool to serve the academic community ever more effectively.
