Career Day for Economics Students

06.05.2026

On 5 May, a meeting entitled "First Steps in the Labour Market – from CV and Job Interview to Conscious Career Development" took place at the Branch of the University of Białystok in Vilnius, organised as part of the Career Paths. Meetings with Graduates and Specialists initiative — Career Day for first- and second-year economics students.

The aim of the event was to prepare students for their first encounters with the labour market, professional placements, internships, and job interviews. The meeting was practical and inspirational in character, combining the expertise of HR specialists, the experience of UwB Branch graduates, and the active participation of students.

The first part of the meeting featured a presentation by Dorota Križanovska, HR specialist at AAS BTA Baltic Insurance Company's Lithuanian branch, responsible for recruitment and human resources management projects. The speaker discussed the contemporary recruitment process, employers' expectations of young candidates, the principles of CV preparation, and effective ways to prepare for a job interview.

Students then took part in a practical exercise entitled "My First CV – What Do I Already Have?", designed to help them recognise that even at the beginning of their studies they already possess competencies, experiences, and activities that can be presented effectively in application documents.

In the second part of the meeting, the floor was taken by Valdemar Chorostin, director of UAB "AM Konsultavimas", a company specialising in personnel management, recruitment, training, and consulting. The speaker shared practical insights into how the labour market functions, employers' expectations, conscious career planning, and salary negotiations with a prospective employer.

A particularly valuable element of the event was a job interview simulation conducted by Tadeuš Beinarovič, a graduate of the UwB Branch in Vilnius and director of Lintega, UAB, a company operating in the field of logistics services and industrial equipment. A student of the Branch participated in the simulation, taking on the role of a job applicant. The exercise allowed students to see how a recruitment interview might unfold in practice, what questions may arise, and what responses employers expect.

The meeting provided an opportunity to gain practical knowledge, ask questions of experts, and engage directly with the guests. The event demonstrated how important it is to build one's career path consciously from the very first years of study.

The organisers extend their sincere thanks to the invited guests for their attendance, valuable engagement, and the inspiring and practical guidance shared with the students.
