Books hold a remarkable power — they can transport readers to entirely different worlds, provoke laughter and emotion, and spark the imagination. Meetings with literature offer an opportunity to discover that every story can become an inspiration for conversation, play, and the shared exploration of new narratives.
On 5 March, the UwB Branch in Vilnius hosted another edition of "A Meeting with a Book", organised by the Janusz Korczak Student Scientific Society of Pedagogy. This time, the participants were pupils from Year 2 of the Konstanty Parczewski Secondary School in Niemencin. The children had the chance to discover the story "Smok Wesołek and the Winter Guests" by Małgorzata Korbiel and Marysia Panas.
The story was presented in an original way — through a cardboard puppet theatre, which brought the characters of the tale almost to life before the eyes of the young audience. This allowed the children to immerse themselves even more deeply in the adventures of Smok Wesołek and his unexpected guests, watching each scene with curiosity and delight.
During the event, the pupils explored new words and phrases from the story and discussed its message. Conversations touched on the meaning of kindness and hospitality, and on how small gestures can change the world around us. There was also room to reflect on which moments in the story were the funniest and most surprising.
"A Meeting with a Book" demonstrates that literature can be more than just reading — it can be a tool for exploring the world together and nurturing the imagination. Thanks to the dedication of the members of the Student Scientific Society of Pedagogy, every such event becomes a true journey into the land of books and inspiring stories.
